# Tufty AI

Meet Tufty, the AI assistant built into Squirrel365 that helps you build and improve your apps step by step, with you in control of every change.

Tufty is the AI assistant built into Squirrel365. It works alongside you in the Designer to help you build and improve your apps, turning plain requests like "change this input to a slider" into real changes you can see straight away. Tufty is there to assist you, not to take over. You stay in control of every change, and you can keep building by hand whenever you want.

Think of Tufty as a helpful colleague sitting next to you. You describe what you want in your own words, Tufty makes the change, and you decide whether to keep it, adjust it, or undo it.

### What you can do with Tufty

You can ask Tufty to help with things like:

* Building new parts of your app from a description
* Improving something you have already built
* Changing how a component looks or behaves
* Making sensible adjustments, such as setting minimum and maximum values on an input

You talk to Tufty in a chat panel inside the Designer. You type your request, and you can also attach images and documents to give Tufty more to work with.

### How Tufty works

Tufty works in small steps rather than trying to do everything from a single instruction. You give it a clear, focused request, it makes that change, and you see the result right away. If it is not quite right, you can steer it with another instruction or edit it yourself.

This step-by-step approach keeps you in the driving seat. Instead of typing one long prompt and hoping for the best, you build up your app a piece at a time and check each change as you go.

You can also move freely between building with Tufty and building manually. Anything Tufty creates is built the same way you would build it yourself, so you can pick up where it left off and carry on by hand.

### Staying in control

Tufty is designed so that your app stays safe and you stay in control:

* Every change Tufty makes can be undone, so nothing is permanent until you are happy with it.
* Changes are checked against Squirrel365's own rules before they are applied, so Tufty cannot leave your app in a broken state.
* You can switch between working with Tufty and editing manually at any point.

### What Tufty will and won't do

Tufty is honest about what it can help with. If you ask for something it cannot do reliably, it will tell you and point you towards a better approach rather than guessing. That way you always know where you stand, and you can trust the changes it does make.

### A quick example

Say you already have a mortgage calculator and you want to make it friendlier to use. You could ask Tufty:

* "Change the amount input to a slider"
* "Do the same for the loan term"
* "Set sensible minimum and maximum values for each"

Each request is small and specific, and you see the result of each one before moving on. There is no need to start over, and no risk of losing the work you have already done.

### Your data and privacy

Tufty is AI-powered. To carry out your requests, it sends the instructions you type and the content of your project, including the data in your spreadsheet, to a third-party AI provider that generates the result. Your content is used only to produce your result, and is not used to train the provider's AI models.

Even so, it is good practice not to enter personal, confidential or sensitive information into Tufty.

For the full detail, including exactly what is and is not sent, how long information is kept, and how your data is handled if it is processed outside the UK, see the [Privacy Policy](https://squirrel365.io/privacy-policy/) and the [Terms of Use](https://squirrel365.io/terms-of-use/).
